N°1 :Define the problem before starting the study 🎯

Prior to your interviews, it is essential that you have taken the time to define your research question. This will help you keep your objectives in mind while also guiding you to derive other questions for your study. Ensure that your research question is as clear as possible so that you can easily keep it in mind.

After formulating your research question, you can take note of all the questions that come to mind and then organize them by themes.

N°2 :Build a plan for the qualitative study 📝

By reviewing the questions you have listed, you can construct the plan for your qualitative study. The different themes you have identified will be useful in visualizing the key points to address.

Based on these themes, you can determine how you will collect the information you need. A method must be established to gather your responses and analyze them.

N°3 :Collect relevant information for the qualitative study 📥

The information exchanged in a qualitative study can be collected in various ways.

For example, if you decide to conduct individual interviews, you will need to prepare the entire interview process in advance. The interview can then be:

Non-directive:

The interviewee freely expresses their thoughts.

Semi-directive:

A pre-prepared interview guide helps structure the interview.

Directive:

The interviewee responds to sequentially asked questions.

Similarly, you can choose to conduct group interviews. In this case, you can take note of the numerous interactions among the participants, which will enrich your study.

Group discussions:

Participants exchange their opinions, and the more divergent they are, the more interesting it is for the debate and your study.

Delphi groups:

Each participant is presented with the responses of others until a clear decision emerges.

Focus groups:

Particularly effective for product or service launches, a moderator guides the discussion within the group while an observer takes note of the various interactions.

N°4 : Analyze the results of the qualitative study 🔍

During the analysis of your qualitative study, you will need to consider all the verbatim, i.e., the words and expressions used by the participants to describe your subject.

This is known as lexical analysis. You can group your results into different themes to better understand the overall findings and identify the main trends that emerge from your study.

N°5: Present the results in a meaningful way 🚀

This step will allow you to better evaluate the relevance of your results. By presenting them in a structured manner, you can easily assess their significance.
